FULAFIA Students Cry Out: Overpriced House Rent, Insecurity, and Silent Authorities

The Wickedness, Insecurity, and Pain Students Face in FULAFIA: A Cry That Must Be Heard

Students Are Suffering in Silence in Federal University Lafia (FULAFIA)

This is no longer just about house rent.
This is now about life and safety.

Students of Federal University Lafia (FULAFIA) are passing through hell—financially, mentally, and physically—yet everybody is acting like nothing is happening.

Agents are wicked.
Landlords are greedy.
And those wey suppose talk? Silent.

Overpriced Rent: A Legalized Extortion Against Students

Around FULAFIA and its environments, agents and landlords have turned student accommodation into a market of oppression.

One small room:

No fence

No security

No light

Bad road

Bad toilet

Yet dem go price am ₦300k – ₦650k like say student be oil company.

Agents go still add:

Agent fee

Inspection fee

Agreement fee

Caution fee

Na who una dey punish?

Students Are Forced Into Dirty Deeds Just to Survive

Because rent must be paid by force:

Some students sell personal belongings

Some borrow money endlessly

Some enter dangerous lifestyles

Some girls are pushed into immoral acts

Some boys enter crime

Not because they want to,
But because housing has become wickedly expensive.

This is how innocent lives are destroyed quietly.

Insecurity: Students Are Not Even Safe in These Overpriced Houses

This one pain pass money.

Despite paying outrageous rent, students are not safe.

Robbers and thieves invade these areas regularly:

Phones stolen

Laptops stolen

Money taken

Valuables lost

Sometimes, students are injured badly.

What happened at GANDU Remedial Campus, Command Road?

Last semester, at GANDU Remedial Campus along Command Road, robbers invaded student residences.

Students were attacked.
Properties were stolen.
Some students were injured.

And what happened after?

The government said nothing

Stud

ent Union said nothing

The school authority said nothing

Silence everywhere.

What Kind of School Cares Only About Money and Not Student Lives?

This is the painful question.

A school that:

Collects acceptance fees

Collects school fees

Collects departmental fees

Collects hostel-related charges

But cannot:

Protect students

Regulate housing

Speak when students are attacked

What kind of institution is that?

Education is not just about collecting money.
It is about student welfare and safety.

Parents Are Also Bleeding Financially and Emotionally

Parents are victims too.

Many parents:

Borrow money to pay rent

Use school fees to cover accommodation

Lose sleep worrying about safety

Imagine sending your child to school, and you don’t even know if they are safe at night.

This is unacceptable.

A Wake-Up Call to FULAFIA School Authority

FULAFIA management must wake up.

This suffering has gone too far.

The school authority must:

Regulate off-campus housing

Register all landlords and agents

Cap house rent prices

Provide security around student areas

Expand and improve on-campus hostels

Respond publicly to security incidents

Silence is no longer an option.

A Message to Agents and Landlords Exploiting Students

If you are among them:

Overcharging students

Ignoring security

Taking advantage of desperation

Know this:
Money collected through wickedness will not bring peace.

Students are humans, not ATM machines.

Students and Parents: It Is Time to Raise Our Voice

Enough of fear.
Enough of silence.

Students must:

Speak out

Document incidents

Use social media

Work through the student bodies

Demand accountability

Parents must:

Ask questions

Demand explanations

Support their children’s voices

Let the World Hear Our Cry

This is our protest.
This is our cry.

We are tired of:

Overpriced house rent

Insecurity

Silence from the authorities

Let Nigeria hear us.
Let the world hear us.

Students of FULAFIA deserve:

Fair housing

Safety

Respect

Dignity

Education should not be a death trap.

Enough is enough.
